Covenant Cancer Treatment Center Offers A Matter of Balance Program to Help People Manage Balance Issues

Covenant Cancer Treatment Center is offering A Matter of Balance, a class for people trying to manage balance issues and prevent falls. A Matter of Balance includes eight two-hour sessions for a small group led by a trained facilitator. The classes will be held at Covenant Cancer Treatment Center for eight weeks starting Monday, October 22 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Many people with various health issues experience fear of falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns about Falls emphasizes practical strategies to reduce this fear and increase activity levels. Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable; set realistic goals to increase activity; change their environment to reduce fall risk factors; and exercise to increase strength and balance.

The program was developed at the Roybal Center at Boston University, and has been nationally recognized. For more information or to register call 319.272.1755.
