Matter of Balance Class Helps People Manage Balance Issues

Covenant Cancer Treatment Center is offering A Matter of Balance, a class for people trying to manage balance issues and prevent falls. A Matter of Balance includes eight two-hour sessions for a small group led by a trained facilitator. The classes are held at Covenant Cancer Treatment Center for eight weeks starting Monday, March 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. for a cost of just $10.

Many people with various health issues experience a fear of falling and may restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls emphasizes practical strategies to reduce this fear and increase activity levels. Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance.

The program was developed at the Roybal Center at Boston University, and has been nationally recognized. Snacks will be provided to participants. For more information or to register call 319.272.1755.
