Covenant Clinic Welcomes New Licensed Mental Health Counselor
by Augusta Sires
Covenant Clinic is pleased to welcome mental health counselor Anthony Michael to their psychiatry clinic in Cedar Falls.
Mr. Michael has always had an interest in the way the human brain works. “I have always had an interest in the human condition and why we do the things we do, so medicine is a natural curiosity for me,” he said. “Counseling allows me to help people in need or who are suffering in a unique way, I feel honored that people will share their life stories and journey with me, and entrust that I may be able to help them along the way.”
He is looking forward to working with a respected group of Covenant Clinic providers, in a community that he enjoys being a part of. “Since moving back to the area three years ago I was made aware of the quality and positive reputation of the providers at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. Wheaton Iowa has the unique ability to attract and retain some of the best providers in the area and I have always wanted to be a part of that community,” he said. “As a native of Iowa, we have family in the area, and the Cedar Valley is a great place to live for quality of life, as well as family atmosphere.”
Mr. Michael received his Bachelor’s Degree from Upper Iowa University in Fayette and his Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor by the State of Iowa Board of Behavioral Science, a member of the American Counseling Association, certified in Parent Child Interaction Therapy, and a member of the Association for Play Therapy.
Mr. Michael was born and raised in Oelwein. He currently resides in Waverly with his wife and two daughters.
