Covenant Medical Center Constructs New MRI Suite

Covenant Medical Center’s imaging services MRI department will see its first patients February 17 in a completely redesigned suite that includes a new magnet from GE Healthcare. Crews worked for the last five months to redesign a portion of the former Covenant emergency department to allow for uninterrupted care while the new facility was built.

The new location offers more room for patients and caregivers, allowing for privacy and space for one-on-one consultation. This area was designed to focus on and manage critically ill patients within the hospital. The new magnet is quieter than previous models and offers a wide bore, or opening, to provide more patient comfort during a test.

“MRI continues to be a great tool for diagnosis and treatment of a host of illnesses,” said Brenda Kriz, MRI Imaging Services Supervisor.” We’re excited to use this new space. We were running out of room in our old department and this allows us to focus more on privacy and comfort for our patients. As with many of our recent renovations at Covenant, we wanted this new department to look and feel more like home and less like the medical institutions of the past. We accomplished that by using features like hard-wood flooring, Earth-tone colors and a floor plan that accommodates privacy and great patient care.”
