Welcoming New Endocrinologist to Covenant Clinic
by Augusta Sires
Covenant Clinic is pleased to welcome Tulsi Sharma, MD. Dr. Sharma is an endocrinologist who began with the clinic in October.
Dr. Sharma’s interest in medicine started at an early age. “I developed a special interest in human biology in high school,” she said. “Learning about the complex chemical reactions in the tiny cells that give rise to the intelligent and highly functional living being, truly intrigued me. The ability to learn more about this science, combined with the greatest opportunity to help other human beings, strengthened my belief that medicine is a holistic discipline and the right choice for me.”
Dr. Sharma received her medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi, India, in 2003, and completed a Residency in Ophthalmology at Maulana Azad Medical College in 2007. She completed a second Residency in Internal Medicine at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York in 2012, and completed a Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Upstate Medical University in 2014.
“During medical school, I loved working directly with people in hospitals and clinical settings,” said Dr. Sharma. “Management of diabetes and being able to prevent its complications using the latest technologies has been a field that I have been enthralled about. I was also interested in the physiology of various hormones and how a delicate balance is needed in the human body to prevent a variety of complex diseases. Hence, I decided to choose Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism as my field of specialty.”
You will find Dr. Sharma at the Covenant Clinic Endocrinology office in the Covenant Professional Office Building, 2710 St. Francis Drive, Suite 510 in Waterloo. Please help us welcome her to the Cedar Valley.
