Covenant Clinic is pleased to welcome Felipe Javier III, M.D. to the Cedar Valley as Covenant Clinic’s new provider focusing on allergies. Since late 2008, Dr. Javier has been practicing as a volunteer physician at Irving Interfaith Medical Clinic in Irving, Texas and as a locum physician in both allergy and pediatrics.

“I was born and raised in the central part of the Philippines,” reflected Dr. Javier. “I have always been drawn toward the medical field mainly because of the vast opportunities it presents to help ease human sufferings – in particular, medical ailments. The one most important philosophy that is at the very foundation of my medical practice is my deep conviction in the God-given dignity of each and every human being. I also believe that although as physicians we are called upon primarily to offer a relief from an illness, at times what is most needed is simply to be compassionately and respectfully present to the afflicted and unfailing in offering them hope to the very end. The most rewarding aspect of my profession comes from a declaration of our Lord and Savior when he said: ‘whatever you do to the least of my brothers, you do unto me’.”

Dr. Javier received his medical degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay College of Medicine in Quezon City, Philippines, in 1984. He completed his Residency in Pediatrics at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines (1986) and at the 13th Air Force Medical Center, Clark Air Base, in Angeles City, Philippines (1987-1989) and practiced as a pediatrician in both the Philippines and Saudi Arabia from 1990 to 1992. Dr. Javier also completed a Residency in Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, from 1993 to 1995. He completed his Fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA, from 1995 to 1998. Dr. Javier practiced as an allergist & immunologist and pediatrician at Tri-State Medical Group/Community Health Center of SE Iowa in Keokuk from 1998 to 2007. He completed his Master’s Degree in Theology at the University of Dallas in Irving, TX, from 2007 to 2009.

"Some of my interests include dancing ballroom and tango, travelling and cooking,” shared Dr. Javier. “I have a sister and a niece who are both nurses in Rochester, Minnesota. My parents have visited me on a number of occasions during the warmer months, but are based in the Philippines. My dad is a retired Judge who at the ripe age of 80 can out-dance me any day. Mom, on the other hand, who is wheelchair-bound due to a stroke about 18 years ago, can out-shop all my 4 sisters combined.”

Please help Covenant Clinic welcome Dr. Javier. He can be seen at the Covenant Clinic – Suite 411, located inside the Covenant Professional Office Building in Waterloo, 2710 St. Francis Drive. He will also be practicing at 516 South Division Street, Suite 135, in Cedar Falls. You can schedule an appointment with him by calling 319.272.5000.
