See the success other people have had with weight loss surgery! DebAs long as I can remember I was always a chubby child. I was picked on at school, had a hard time finding clothes to fit, and was unhappy and depressed. I ate to satisfy these feelings. As I became older I tried all kinds of diets with lose and gain. I had heard so much about gastric bypass surgery. It was a hard decision to make, but it was the best thing I ever did for myself. It has been three years, losing 145 pounds. I’m feeling absolutely happy and healthy. Some people say I took the easy way, but I disagree. It is a complete lifestyle change in eating habits and exercise – it is a must! Remember there is always another day to eat. I’m totally fulfilled and happy with the outcome! Kristie, Cedar Rapids, IowaI had a blood clot in Feb 2008 in my left lung and the doctor said I was lucky to be alive. I really didn’t know if I felt lucky being so miserable in my own skin. I began the long road to blood draws, medicines, etc. Prior to that, my diagnosis ranged from obesity, degenerative disk disease, coronary artery disease, hypertension, thrombophlebitis, hyperlipidemia, hiatal hernia, GERD(barrettes syndrome), depression, anxiety, insomnia, swollen ankles, sleep apnea, shortness of breath, back, hip, and joint pain and the list goes on. The surgery has changed my life and health! Everything has changed except the person that was inside my skin is now glowing outwards. Click here to read more about Kristie’s Story! EllenMy trip to the O.R. with Dr Glascock was preceded by years of unhealthy food choices, poor eating habits, crash diets, lack of exercise, and a long and growing list of health problems. I have tried every diet program known to man (woman), yet still found myself extremely over weight, unhealthy and unhappy. I avoided mirrors. I have no full length mirrors in my home. If I came face to face with a mirror, I always looked at my eyes, no fat there. I was safe. For years I avoided the camera lens too. I was always the one behind the camera on holidays and family events. I couldn’t bear to see myself in pictures. Actually, after 30 years of marriage we have only one family portrait. In February 2009, I attended a seminar with a girlfriend of mine. Dr. Hodges happened to be speaking at that particular seminar. I knew something needed to change in my life. I was almost 36 years old and I had been on blood pressure medicine for a few years, and was directly related to my weight. Both my parents were struggling with diabetes and it seemed that was what I had to look forward to in my future. I honestly hadn't given weight loss surgery a lot of thought prior to this, but the seminar really made it seem possible. I started the process of getting approval and my six month medically-supervised diet that was required by my insurance company. Dr Hodges and his staff, along with my primary care provider, Elaine Kuns, were amazing! Click here to read more about Rachel! Janell, Anamosa IowaWith the help of Dr. Glascock and the Lap-Band®System I lost 115 pounds. I’ve never felt so good. I cured my sleep apnea and gastric reflux and my cholesterol level has gone way down as well. Life is Great! Now I have more confidence and truly enjoy everything more. This procedure is a great jump start to get you going on the right path for a healthy life.
Patricia, North Liberty IowaPatricia was motivated to lose weight and become healthier so she could enjoy time with her family. Having tried diet and exercise programs to no avail, Pat decided it was time to make a real commitment to her health by scheduling Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery with Dr. Glascock. Just over one year later she is 110 pounds lighter, no longer suffers from sleep apnea, has eliminated the need for many medications and enjoys ice skating frequently with her young son.
