Encourage the women in your life – mother, daughter, sister and friend – to commit to fighting breast cancer through early detection. Women with a family history of breast cancer or women 40+ are at risk, and should take the steps necessary to prevent this disease from claiming another life.

The breast surgeons at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare are committed to saving your life by providing all the services you need. From digital mammograms to excisional breast biopsies, a lumpectomy, mastectomy, sentinel node biopsies, FNA, cyst aspirations, stereotactic/ultrasound guided biopsies and much more, our breast surgeon’s work closely with our medical and radiation oncologists to provide comprehensive breast care at every stage. In fact, our breast surgeons provide breast biopsy results in less than 24 hours for most patients. Our on-site surgeons, radiologists and their compassionate team feel you deserve to know the results of your test as soon as possible.

Timely Diagnosis – Our Promise to You!
Our breast surgeons and compassionate staff believe very strongly that patients should not have to wait a week or even days to receive their results. In most circumstances, breast biopsy results are available in less than 24 hours! The results of your mammogram are sent to your primary care physician. If issues arise with your mammogram, your primary care physician will explain the results and can refer you to one of three Covenant breast surgeons at the Comprehensive Breast Center, often the same day.

Multi-Specialty Review of New Breast Cancer Cases
Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis can be difficult. At Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, we offer patients a distinct advantage: a group of physicians from various specialties meet weekly to review new breast cancer cases. If you are diagnosed with breast cancer, your Covenant breast surgeon can present your case to other physicians who specialize in chemotherapy treatment, tissue and biopsy analysis, radiation therapy, surgeons and others who help develop the best plan of care. This provides a more coordinated approach to your specific situation by a group of experts in each field.

Experienced Breast Surgeons
Covenant’s Breast surgeons - Robert Savereide, MD and Neil McMahon, MD - are dedicated to finding the problem and providing you with options from breast surgery to cancer treatment (if needed). Surgeons at Covenant’s Comprehensive Breast Center can perform minimally-invasive surgeries including biopsies to remove tissue or a mass; lumpectomies to remove a cyst or tumor; and mastectomies to remove the breast(s) if such a procedure is necessary.

Whatever your specific needs are, our comprehensive services and compassionate team are there to take you from diagnosis to treatment, and back to a fulfilling life!

We are very proud to be recommended as a place where you can find exceptional cancer care, and we are committed to Northeast Iowans who need these services close to the communities in which they live.
