Eight skiers took part in the annual Adaptive Ski Day, hosted by Covenant Medical Center's Therapeutic Recreation Department on Monday, July 10. The event is held at Eagle Lake in Evansdale, and made possible through a partnership with the Waterhawks Ski Team.

The clinic is open to amputees and participants with spinal cord impairment, along with their family, friends and loved ones. Covenant's trained rehab staff and the Waterhawks make sure each person is successful, even if it is their first time skiing. Participants use a special water ski designed for persons with mobility limitations.

This year, there were four new skiers who attended Adaptive Ski Day, along with four other skiers who have participated before. The eight skiers ranged in age from pre-teens to 76!

The event received local media coverage from KWWL television and the Waterloo Courier.
