New Covenant Clinic in Oelwein Announces Health Care Providers
A new Covenant Clinic location in Oelwein will employ two health care providers already very familiar with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare and the local community. Michael Atherley, PA-C and Lori Dettmer, ARNP will provide compassionate care in Covenant Clinic Convenient Care and Occupational Medicine, set to open on the fourth floor of Mercy Hospital later this year.
Michael Atherley is already well-known to the local community of Oelwein and surrounding areas, having given 17 years of service to patients in family medicine. "As long as I can recall, I have always wanted to be in the medical field, because I wanted to make a difference in people's lives," he says. "I genuinely care about my patients' overall well-being." Atherley lives in Oelwein with his family and is an active member in his church in Oelwein.
Lori Dettmer brings 25 years of health care experience to the clinic. She has worked in occupational health for 16 years and in Convenient Care for four years. "As a provider I will try to always listen to my patients, and use my skills to improve their health to the best of my abilities," she says. Lori is very familiar with the Oelwein area, having grown up on a farm near Frederika and attended school in Tripoli. She now lives in Sumner with her family.
Covenant Clinic Convenient Care provides high quality medical care for all illnesses that are not life-threatening. Patients can visit when their primary care provider’s office is closed, when they are unable to schedule a convenient appointment with their regular provider, or when they can’t wait to feel better. This is a walk-in clinic, and no appointment is necessary.
In addition to Convenient Care, Covenant Clinic Occupational Medicine will provide quality and convenient occupational health care to Oelwein businesses and their employees. As a part of the Covenant Clinic network, the staff will have additional support from Occupational Medicine offices in Cedar Falls.
This joint Covenant Clinic office will be located on the fourth floor of Mercy Hospital, at 201 8th Avenue SE in Oelwein. The clinic plans to open by the end of this year.
