Covenant Clinic's first primary care provider in Independence is already familiar to many in the community! Krissy Wieland, ARNP, is now scheduling appointments at the new clinic.

"I was excited to hear Covenant Clinic was opening this location since I am originally from the Winthrop area and currently live in Independence," said Wieland. "These are my people, and I love the idea of taking care of those with whom I can so easily relate. It is exciting to go to work every day and get to see friends, family, and community members."

Mrs. Wieland received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids in 2010 and completed a nurse residency program at Mercy Medical Center. She then was employed as a registered nurse at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. During this time she earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2015 from Clarke University in Dubuque.

Wieland has been a pain management provider for several rural clinics and hospitals in northeast Iowa and is already familiar with Covenant Clinic. She has been seeing patients at Covenant Clinic Franklin Street in downtown Waterloo since the location opened in January 2017. She was also a student nurse practitioner at Covenant Clinic in Evansdale.

"I absolutely enjoy being a provider and caring for my patients. I feel it was my calling in life. My goal is to keep patients educated about their own health, so they can actively participate in decision-making."
