Vice President of Covenant Clinic honored for contributions to health care

Annually the Iowa Medical Society (IMS) presents the John F. Sanford Award to a layperson who has made an outstanding contribution to health care in Iowa. IMS is pleased to announce the 2018 recipient of the John F. Sanford Award is Jeffrey Halverson, RPh, MBA.  Mr. Halverson is Vice President Physician Network, Covenant Clinic at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Waterloo, Iowa.

Halverson is a longtime participant of the IMS Health Care Executives Section and a trusted voice in health care administration throughout the state. In 2015, he served on the ad hoc IMS Data Task Force. Through his leadership role within Covenant Clinic, an IMS 100 percent members clinic, Halverson has also previously served as a leader within the University of Iowa Health Alliance.

The John F. Sanford Award recognizes a layperson who has made an outstanding contribution to health care in Iowa. The award is named after a physician from Keokuk who is considered the “father” of the Iowa Medical Society. Since it was first presented in 1959 to Edwin M. Kingery of Des Moines, the John F. Sanford Award, has been presented to 48 lay individuals for significant contributions to health care in Iowa.
